UTP Testing
Because UTP cable doesn’t have shielding, it is much more susceptible to EMI and crosstalk than coax cabling. As a result of this vulnerability, the installation of UTP cabling must meet specific requirements. Just like coax, for example, UTP should not be routed near light fixtures in the plenum, run parallel to heavy power cables, or get run over and squashed on a regular basis by your office chair! With UTP cables, the way the wires are attached to the wall plates and the number of sharp bends in a horizontal run can adversely affect performance.
