For a tech who is used to working with desktops and laptops, mobile devices are surprisingly self-maintaining. They are designed to be popular with the average nontechnical person, and to not give that person enough rope to hang themselves with. Consequently, the OS ecosystem is mostly closed on a mobile device, and there isn’t a lot of opportunity for creative tinkering (unless you get into writing your own apps, which is a whole nother book). There are three basic maintenance activities: securing, updating, and resetting.
