INTRODUCTION

Why Did CompTIA Make This Update?

In August of 2010, CompTIA shocked the IT training industry by announcing their intent to add Windows 7 to the already existing 220-701 and 220-702 exams. This was big news. Never before had CompTIA changed the objectives of an existing exam. CompTIA’s motivation for this unprecedented move was simple: to keep their ISO recognition in order to sell the CompTIA exams. This move also enabled the CompTIA A+ exams to actually cover the latest version of Windows. Windows 7 came out right after the previous CompTIA A+ update (back in 2009), instantly putting the exams behind the curve.
