Compact Antennas with Pattern Diversity
4.1Introduction
In this chapter orthogonal pattern diversity antenna elements to support the landscape and portrait modes in a typical smartphone environment are presented. As discussed in previous chapters, millimeter wave 5G is targeted primarily at data usage, which means that the antennas to be designed must be able to support this. Statistically speaking, users would utilize the smartphone either in landscape or portrait mode. The antennas to be designed must radiate minimally towards the user, and the placement of the antenna module has to be in such a way that the mutual coupling among the elements must be as low as possible, and the elements have to be fired according to the mode of operation. ...
