23Say no to protect your energy
Starting a business is full on! When you start your online education business you'll be set on your path, but then you'll look to the side and think you need to jump on over there and do what that person is doing, or maybe that person ahead of you. You'll find yourself being pulled in different directions and getting nowhere fast. Trying to do everything and be all things to all people leads inevitably to burnout, and then you're just as useless as the ‘g’ in lasagne.
This may be your first business or perhaps you've had others. But no matter how many times you've done it, when you create something new and put it out into the world, it's a big thing. It's about how much work it takes but also the emotional weight of it. Looking at what we have to do from a practical standpoint is so easy. We just have to do one thing then the next, making sure we're focusing our time and energy on the tasks that will yield the greatest results. Emotionally, we can psych out and feel overwhelmed and exhausted, sometimes even just by the thought of the road ahead!
It's vitally important to keep healthy, both emotionally and physically. Depending on our natural habits, this is easier said than done.
