11.6 Conclusion
In this chapter we presented an overview of recommender systems and dif-
ferent solutions to solve the information and interaction overload problems on
the Web. We used three different user generated contents as sources of infor-
mation: query logs, social knowledge such as Wikipedia, social photo sharing
such as Flickr, and real-time microblogging such as Twitter. By exploiting
these data, we have introduced several recommendation algorithms: to recom-
mend queries, to recommend touristic points of interest, and to recommend
news.
