Chapter 9. Mobile Commerce

Billing systems handle a service provider's accounting, bill presentment, and payment for basic telecommunication services, but commerce systems focus on transaction processing, payment, and fulfillment for products that must then be delivered to a customer, whether electronically or physically. Figure 9.1 illustrates the commerce components of our mobile location service infrastructure. This chapter discusses mobile e-commerce, from specific mobile e-commerce opportunities enabled by location-based information to technologies under development to facilitate mobile e-commerce.
