Graphical Modeling
Einstein’s Razor: “The right model is the simplest that will do the job, but no simpler.” While it is often tempting to use complex and highly mathematical techniques to develop advanced models, more often than not this leads to poorly constructed, overly complex, and ultimately inaccurate models. Using a graphical approach is much more in keeping with an engineering philosophy, and not only has the benefit of displaying all the important information in a readily accessible way, but allows intrinsic validation of the model structures within the framework of the graphical interface and serves to document the model more clearly for others to understand.
