When arranging the UVs on a character like this it’s best to think of
them as “puzzle pieces.” They need to fit nicely together with the
least amount of background or “dead” space between them. In their
current state, Callisto’s UVs fit a little too easily within the UVW
background “square.”
The most effective way
to reduce all that empty
space is by increasing
the size of the body UVs
by scaling them up a
bit.
This way they take up
more space and cover
more of the texture
page. Don’t worry if the
UVs spill off the borders
of the square. Once the
pieces are moved around
they will be back on the
page.
