Testing 129
main protective conductor must be measured at at least three points on
each relevant surface, one of which must be between 1 m and 1.2 m
from any extraneous conductive part in the area. The reading obtained
should not be less than 50 kQ for a supply voltage less than 500 V or
100 kQ over 500 V, but not exceeding low voltage.
Operation of residual current devices
In this case a fault is simulated to ensure the effectiveness of the device.
The procedure is outlined in the I.E.Ε. Regulations and is discussed
further in Volume 3.
