main protective conductor must be measured at at least three points on
each relevant surface, one of which must be between 1 m and 1.2 m
from any extraneous conductive part in the area. The reading obtained
should not be less than 50 kQ for a supply voltage less than 500 V or
100 kQ over 500 V, but not exceeding low voltage.
Operation of residual current devices
In this case a fault is simulated to ensure the effectiveness of the device.
The procedure is outlined in the I.E.Ε. Regulations and is discussed
further in Volume 3.
Inspection
So far, we have dealt with particular tests carried out with specially
