When you’ve started your first job and life is full of after-work parties, weekend city breaks and summer holidays in glamorous locations, it’s easy to push thoughts of retirement to the back of your mind.
But the sooner you can begin to save for retirement, the more money you could make and the more likely it is that you will be able to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle in your later years.
Unfortunately, most of us delay contributing to a pension and when we finally begin, we often fail to save enough to generate a decent income in retirement. This means many people have to rely on the State Pension, worth not much more than £600 a month.
