Our excuse
It seems that every collapsed hedge fund can explain how they actually
did really well and either they were wildly unfortunate or their losses
were someone else’s fault. We were no different.
It is particularly laughable how many people put themselves in the
category of: ‘Can you believe it? XYZ happened – that is a one-in-a-
million event.’ Equally self-deluding are those who insist rather more
pretentiously that they were the victims of a ‘six-sigma event’. The only
advantage of this expression is that it may scare away the follow-up
