Chapter 3. Advanced Configuration

So now that we have covered some of the basics of Opsview, let's have a look at some of the advanced features that Opsview offers us to improve our monitoring setup.

This will include the following:

  • Using exceptions to override service checks
  • Creating special keyword views for our users
  • Using special host attributes to allow for specific situations and fast configuration
  • Sending out notifications using notification profiles
  • Using the test function in the web frontend
  • Creating some advanced configurations for multi-homed systems and network outages
  • Using the REST API for automation
