As explained in Chapter 13, the MPEG-4 Systems standard defines (as of December 2001) five scene graph profiles: Simple 2D, Complete 2D, Complete, Audio, and 3D Audio [N3850, N4264]. From these profiles, only Complete 2D and Complete had no levels defined.

Moreover, six additional scene graph profiles were under study or already included in amendments under ballot in December 2001: X3D Interactive and Advanced Main 2D[1] were under study [N4506] and Basic 2D, Core 2D, Advanced 2D, and Main 2D were under ballot [N4408].

[1] Advanced Main 2D was removed from the profiles under consideration list in March 2002.
