The audio tools in MPEG-4 are divided into coding and scene description tools, as illustrated in Figure 12.1. The coding tools are further classified as natural and synthetic audio coding. Whereas speech and natural audio coding tools were presented in Chapters 10 and 11, synthetic audio coding and audio composition are the major focus of this chapter.
