INTRODUCING MEC

Edge Computing in the Network

In this chapter we introduce the ETSI multi-access edge computing (MEC) standard, and the related components and main technology enablers (also by discussing the alignment with ETSI network function virtualization (NFV) standards). Moreover, we provide an overview of the MEC services scenarios, in order to offer the reader a comprehensive set of suitable use cases enabled by MEC.

So, what is MEC really? What does it look like and how does it really work?
