Video Transmission over Networks

Many video applications involve transmission over networks, such as visual conversation, video streaming, video on demand (VOD), and video downloading. Various kinds of networks are involved, wireless local area networks (WLANs) such as IEEE 802.11, storage area networks (SANs), private internet protocol (IP) networks, public Internet, and wireless networks. If the network lacks congestion and has no bit errors, then the source coding bitstreams of the previous chapter can be sent directly over the network.
