1.3 Multihoming and Its Support in SCTP
The term “multihoming” was not coined for SCTP, but has been around the Internet
for a while. Originally, it was used to refer to a specic type of Autonomous System
(AS), namely multihomed AS, which is connected to more than one AS but does
not allow packets from outside sources to transit on their way to an outside destina-
tion. The above denition relates to the availability of multiple links, or paths, that
can be chosen by a single packet while it is routed between source and destination.
