Track 2

In this audio file, the expressive powers of the three basic parameters of musical tone are demonstrated through use of a string chord sample. In the first excerpt, the chord is subjected to a series of rises in pitch. In the second excerpt that immediately follows, the chord slowly builds in intensity. In the third excerpt, the chord is subjected to qualitative changes—that is, transformations of tone quality accomplished through discrete use of a filter.
