Track 5

The harmonic series is tremendously important in all areas of both acoustic and electronic music. Here the first eight harmonics of note A2 are heard in succession. Collectively to the ear, they sound like a dominant seventh chord—root note A—although to duplicate the harmonic series accurately, those oscillators producing the third harmonic need to be detuned by +2 cents, the fifth harmonic by –14 cents, and the seventh harmonic by –31 cents.
