Resolution, Snap to Grid, and Quantization

Knowledge of note values is essential for the effective use of resolution, snap to grid, and quantization functions offered by music software programs. Resolution concerns the value of the notes set when using the Pencil tool to draw in notes. When the tool is set to an eighth, it will automatically pencil in an eighth note on the selected pitch (see Figure 4.14).
