Deleting a Message

When you delete a message, your iPhone stores the deleted message in a special Trash folder, which allows you to view that message again or move it out of the Trash folder to retrieve it. To delete messages permanently, delete them from the Trash folder.

Sending a Message to the Trash Folder

To delete a message stored in another folder, such as the Inbox folder, and send it to the Trash folder, do this:

  1. Follow the steps in the section Choosing an Email Account to display the folders of your email account.

  2. Tap a folder, such as the Inbox folder. A list of messages stored in that folder appears (see Figure 33-4).

  3. Tap the message you want to delete. The Trash icon appears at the bottom of the screen (see Figure 33-7).
