At the heart, the very core, of all of the paradoxes that beset the steam engine, is innovation. If the organization’s focus is on control, measurement, efficiency, predictability, lack of variation, then innovation is the last thing that the organization wants.
Innovation is inherently risky – it’s different. We don’t know where innovation might take us.
