2.1. Who Needs Testing and Tuning?

As I mentioned earlier, any company that has implemented an SAP solution will benefit from using stress testing to drive smart tuning. Specifically, when I think of who or what reaps the most value out of stress testing, I immediately think of companies that find themselves in the middle of one of the following five SAP system lifecycle phases:

  1. Deployment: preparing for a new implementation of SAP R/3, mySAP ERP, or any mySAP Business Suite component or solution

  2. Change control: preparing for major change control waves, or the quarterly changes made at many different levels in the technology stack throughout the life of the system—changes that don't fall into the category of full-blown upgrades
