7.4. Systemwide Lab Utilities and Applications
A number of free and fee-based systemwide monitoring tools and other utilities are available from a variety of places. For example, each of the major SAP hardware partners, like HP, IBM, Sun, and Dell, offer system-management utilities that typically come bundled with their respective hardware platforms. These include products like HP's Insight Manager and Toptools offerings, Sun's Sun Net Manager, and Dell's OpenManage. Utilities like these provide a foundation for enterprise-wide systems management, often working seamlessly with all-purpose management applications I'll discuss later, like HP OpenView and CA Unicenter, to provide deeper insight into a technology stack's performance.
