Appendix A. An Overview of the Nagios Configuration Parameters

Nagios contains two independent main configuration files: nagios.cfg controls operation of the Nagios daemon, cgi.cfg configures the Web interface. Both files should be located in the Nagios configuration directory, which is normally /etc/nagios.

nagios.cfg specifies a series of further configuration database and log files, and their functions for the respective parameter will be briefly described in the following reference. The notation ⇒parameter refers to the description of the parameter in the configuration file currently being discussed.
