If the configuration test ran without error, Nagios on Debian, Ubuntu, and OpenSuSE is first started manually with this script:
linux:~ # /etc/init.d/nagios start
Fedora provides its own startup mechanism:
linux:~ # service nagios start
If everything runs smoothly here (which can be checked by running the Web interface—see 3.3 Overview of the Web Interface in page 85), you only need to make sure that the script is executed at system start.
