8.1 Introduction

The question may be raised that, during description of physical sensors, chemical phenomena are frequently intermixed; e.g., in Sections 6.7.2 and 6.7.3, pH nanosensors were dealt with. It is well-nigh impossible to tightly compartmentalize the discussion into physical, chemical and biological domains, such that chemical and biological phenomena do not enter the domain of physical sensors.
