6. Operational problems. These are common occurrence events that come up because of lack of
attention in monitoring performance and addressing problems as they come up. They include the
likes of the following:
a. Product attributes that do not meet customer needs, inferior product quality, and inefcient
pricing vis-à-vis competitor offerings
b. Poor customer service record over long periods and decline of customer satisfaction lead-
ing to customer defection
c. Failures of PPM, that is, inadequate NPDs, ineffective sales, marketing, and advertising
plans, and unsuccessful product upgrades and extensions
