When working on projects that are hosted in Subversion or CVS, it's often necessary to create a Diff patch and submit this to project owners. A Diff patch details all of the changes made between two code bases, with all of the information being held within a single file.
Creating a Diff patch is particularly common in open source projects where a user does not have commit rights, but wishes to submit a patch or a piece of new functionality to a project.
