Part IIIThe Path to Social Entrepreneurship
There comes a time in our lives when we stop and pause and ask, is this what it's all about? Sometimes it is after the kids have launched, or we hit a milestone at work, or we lose someone we love too soon, too young.
It might even be a health crisis of our own that makes the fleeting passage of time all too real. There is a sensation, a longing that our time on this earth should have some lasting meaning or impact.
We have honed a skillset and a network and a confidence for getting things done, and it's time to do just that to make this a better world. Enter the social entrepreneur. Their start-up businesses are often nonprofits, but not always. Some for-profit businesses clearly can make a difference and provide a lasting legacy.
In the following four chapters, you will meet social entrepreneurs who have embarked on a variety of ventures to give back.
