Facilitator Responsibilities

As the program facilitator, you have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Role model. Participants will look to you to set the tone and model appropriate behaviors. In other words, it’s important that you practice what you preach.

  • Discussion guide. You must lead the discussion and encourage everyone’s participation. Remember that one definition of facilitate is “to make easier.”

  • Keeper of the agenda. It is important not to lose track of program objectives. You must be the guardian of the agenda. Use it to limit griping sessions and redirect tangents.
