An Empirical Analysis of Indigenous Businesses in Canada

Introduction

The dollar value of exports in 2017 in the world was US$23.01 trillion and that includes the value of merchandise exports (US$ 17.73 trillion) and the value of service exports (US$ 5.28 trillion) (World Trade Organization, 2018). The percentage of service exports1 represents about 23% of the value of all exports in the world. In Canada, the total value of exports in 2016 was $625.7 billion which encompasses the value of merchandise exports ($516.8 billion) and the value of service exports ($108.9 billion) (Global Affairs Canada, 2019).
