First impressions can be totally misleading and with Cecilia Carlstedt this is certainly true. Her work has a magical quality, which does not reveal itself at first glance. In her portfolio there are many examples that demonstrate her technique of taking a figure and partially representing it in a simple, bold and recognizable manner while at the same time allowing it to blur into abstraction. Such graphic boldness is balanced by the exquisite drafting of the model’s face, hair and hands, while the shadowed silhouette tells the observer a great deal about the personality and attitude of the subject.
