Where many fashion illustrators prefer to use monochromatic or restrained shades – perhaps reasoning that unless requested, the season’s colours may date an illustration – Stina Persson revels in colour and splashes it with an almost reckless abandon across her work. Yet there is nothing careless about her imagery, and each piece of work makes a carefully considered statement. Like Christian Lacroix, she is confident with colour – to the observer she may seem daring but Persson is simply intent on presenting her flights of fantasy as a creative statement.
