The power of RSS

Abstract:

The XML format known as RSS enables internet users to subscribe to ‘feeds’ of information from other websites. ‘Enclosures’ allow media files such as podcasts and video to be attached to a feed. RSS is widely used to receive information updates from news search sites and from blogs. All the major internet browsers have RSS reader capabilities. A more flexible option for managing subscriptions and reading feeds is to use a hosted RSS reader, such as Google Reader, Netvibes, Bloglines, My Yahoo!, Wikio, or a news aggregator such as FeedDemon, which provides more options for managing your subscriptions and news reading.
