Convention over configuration

As we have seen, nearly every aspect of NHibernate can be configured, and thus influences the corresponding runtime behavior. With a lot of configuration possibilities and flexibility comes a lot of responsibility. We have to be aware of the fact that with the wrong configuration settings in place, we can severely impact the performance and general behavior of the system.

Having to explicitly define each and every possible configuration setting of a complex framework such as NHibernate can be a tedious and error-prone task. Even if we are very careful and do not create any wrong settings, then it is at least a boring task to do.
