Time for action – Preparing the system

To be able to create reports, we first define the domain model, create the mappings and the database schema, and finally, create some data. Let's do this now:

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio and create a new empty database called LinqToNHibernateSample.
  2. Open Visual Studio and create a new Console Application type project. Name the project LinqToNHibernateSample.
  3. Set Target Framework of the project to .NET Framework 4.
  4. Add references to the NHibernate and NHibernate.ByteCode.Castle assembly projects located in the lib folder.
  5. Add a new solution folder called Schema to the solution.
  6. Add the two files nhibernate-configuration.xsd and nhibernate-mapping.xsd, located in the lib folder to this Schema solution folder. ...
