Appendix A. Accessories

There are a number of accessories and additional equipment available for the Nikon D300s. These accessories range from batteries and flashes to tripods and camera bags. These accessories can enhance your shooting experience by providing you with options that aren't immediately available with the purchase of the camera alone.

MB-D10 Battery Grip

The MB-D10 battery grip is an accessory available only from Nikon that attaches to the bottom of your D300s. Not only does this grip offer you an extended shooting life by allowing you to fit additional batteries to your camera, it also offers the ease and convenience of a vertical shutter release, a Main and Sub-command dial, and an AF-On button. This means that if you hold your camera in the vertical position, you can use the additional Shutter Release button on the MB-D10 to fire the camera and adjust settings without having to awkwardly hold your camera with your elbow up in the air to press the camera's Shutter Release button.

The MB-D10 grip has room for eight AA-sized batteries in addition to the EN-EL3e battery in the camera body itself. Instead of AA batteries, with the addition of a supplied adapter, you can also fit an EN-EL3e battery, which doubles the shooting life of the camera.
