Chapter 7: Event Photography
Event photography is a great way for an advanced amateur photographer to make some extra money. There are many types of events, however, and some photographers pick one — weddings, for example — and specialize in that event, or some photographers such as myself branch out and dabble in a little bit of everything from sporting events, parties, weddings, and concerts. There’s no right or wrong way to approach doing events other than the fact that you must be comfortable that you can do the job sufficiently.
One of the primary concerns for a photographer that decides to take on event photography is having a responsibility to the client to produce high-quality images in a timely manner. If you don’t feel that you are ready to take on an assignment, then don’t do it. The best way to enter into the field of event photography is to assist a professional event photographer to help you get familiar with the process and ultimately lead you to achieving success.
