Transformation of an Electromagnetic Field in an Unbounded Medium with Time-Varying Parameters

The first stage of a non-stationary electromagnetic problem is realized in some parametric phenomena in active media, for example in a time modulation of medium parameters. If these parameters change slowly in comparison with an electromagnetic field then investigations can be made via adiabatic approximations without transients that yield a slow change of the results. These results can be predicted relatively easily, but they are of little interest. Transients become apparent in the other extreme when the medium parameters change rapidly with time.
