Chapter Summary
Tests for two dependent or related samples are necessary to ascertain
whether one condition or treatment yields higher or lower scores than the
other. Subjects are matched or paired on predetermined criteria. Different
treatments can be administered to the same individual at different time
points or under two different conditions. Sometimes it may be desirable
to administer a different treatment or condition to each individual in a
matched pair. In both cases, the pretest and posttest scores are compared
