Chapter 8 lays the foundation for using accounting software by walking you through how to record your accounting transactions manually. Keeping your accounting books manually can be quite time-consuming, so in this chapter you build upon your manual knowledge from Chapter 8 by reviewing three different accounting software packages.
First, I introduce you to QuickBooks, which you may already be familiar with. QuickBooks doesn’t have a dedicated nonprofit product, like Aplos or ACCOUNTS, but you can tailor QuickBooks Online or the desktop version, QuickBooks Premier Plus (and some of the other QuickBooks options), for nonprofits. The good thing about QuickBooks is that you may have already used a version of it in the past, and there is a good chance that any accountant or bookkeeper you hire has experience using QuickBooks.
