If you’re new to fundraising, chances are that you’re also new to the case statement. Your organization’s case statement is an all-important vision document that spells out the major aspects of your organization’s story, from your mission to your program goals and objectives, to board members, staff, and key volunteer leaders. Think of your case statement as the fabric you use to create all your other messages — promotional pieces, letters to donors, grant proposals, and more.

You may not be — or have any intention of becoming — an attorney, but there’s something to be said for being able to make your case.
