CHAPTER AT A GLANCE
Pollution refers to any unfavourable modification in the physical, chemical, or biological properties of air, land, water, or soil. Agents causing such unwanted alterations are labelled as pollutants. The Government of India implemented the Environment (Protection) Act in 1986 to safeguard and enhance the state of our environment, encompassing air, water, and soil.
