Ecologism

INTRODUCTION

Ecologism or Green Political Theory has been regarded as a distinctive ideological tradition since the 1970s. Ecologism was viewed as an ideology due to three main theoretical developments. First is the ecocentric ‘worldview,’ second is anthropocentrism or human-centred biasness and third is the emergence of ‘deep’ ecology.

The term ‘ecology’ was coined by the german zoologist Ernst Haeckel in 1866, in his work ‘German Morphology (1866).
