Coffee-can Spotlight

Applications

A spotlight can provide an interesting visual separation of an object from the background. Most guerilla filmmakers don’t have access to sophisticated light fixtures such as those made by Dido. Perhaps the flood to spot settings on a Fresnel light is just what you need, but rental or purchase of these lights may be too expensive for your budget. Using a combination of a spotlight bulb and a cylinder to limit the angle of the beam (see figure 22-1), you can create a fixture that is essentially a low-budget spotlight.
