A common slide projector (see figure 23-1) provides a brilliant, focused light source that’s excellent for cinematic effects. The projector can be used in a film for a variety of uses from spotlighting a master of ceremonies at a circus to “beaming-up” a human being to the alien ship. The sharp edges of the projected light can give a scene a very distinctive look.
