Loading data with SQL*Loader
Using an external table can be an extremely useful way to load data into tables, but there are other methods as well. As we mentioned, the type oracle_loader clause in our CREATE TABLE statement for an external table implicitly uses Oracle's SQL*Loader tool to load data on the fly. This utility can also be used explicitly from the command line. SQL*Loader is Oracle's de facto tool for loading large amounts of data into database tables.
