Configuring Login Initialization
Long before there ever was a browser war, UNIX users amused themselves by arguing over the best screen-based editor (vi and emacs were the top contenders) and the best shell program, of which there were a handful. Some people still go on about their preferred, and therefore best, editor, but the bash shell seems to have choked off that topic for friendly debate. The shells installed by default with Solaris include the following:
Bourne shell (/usr/bin/sh)
POSIX-compliant Bourne shell (/usr/xpg4/bin/sh)
